Elderly people’s social isolation is increasingly recognised as an urgent issue. It not only effects the health and morale of an individual living in isolation, but often prevents them from making an important contribution to society.
The Community Foundation is planning to programme a series of events and activities, which will engage older people in local communities across the Wakefield District. It will be an opportunity for them to recall their own personal stories of living within the Wakefield District and share these with the younger generation.
The Community Foundation has attracted £40,000 in funding from an anonymous national benefactor ‘to help older people overcome social isolation and make a bigger contribution to their communities’.
Bringing people together within the community - this project is due to go live in summer 2019.
