We are launching Round III of our Elderly Person’s Social Isolation Fund which is inspired by the celebrations surrounding the 130th anniversary of Wakefield being granted city status.
We believe it is more important than ever that we engage with our older citizens as social isolation is increasingly being recognised as an urgent issue.
Wakefield @ 130 is designed to encourage a series of events and activities, which will engage older people in local communities across the Wakefield District. At least 130 elderly people will be engaged in local communities through a series of celebratory events. Their stories/activities could be about:
The outcomes we’re looking for are:
Wakefield @ 130 is designed to work in around 10-15 local communities, engaging up to 2,000 older people across the Wakefield District. The average grant available is likely to be in the region of £3,000. This is an opportunity to maximise the impact of any potential match funding available through your own organisation.
The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 6 March 2020 and we aim to distribute funds before the end of March. Funding allocated must be spent within 12 months of receipt. All supported projects will be required to submit monitoring information including case studies.
